Wireless Resume

Bandwidth & Throughput
  • Bandwidth is calculation maximum amount of data that travel trough a channel.
  • Throughput is the real maximum amount of data that "actually" travel through a channel successfully.
  • So... bandwidth is just calculation, throughput is the real according to some parameters like interference, freznel zone, visual LOS and etc,
  • Channel width is lists of wireless band. Improving channel width will make throughput increase. But it will increase interference too.
  • Interference is unwanted signals that have same or almost same frequency that interrupt each other
Data Rate
  • Data rate not indicate throughput, because data rate always change dinamically according to its environment.
  • Data rate is throughput for half duplex communication.
  • For full duplex communication usually half of data rate,
  • Improve data rate will make power propagated increases.
CCQ
  • CCQ (Client Connection Quality) is persentage that shows effectiveness of bandwidth.
  • Formula of CCQ is average of Tmin divide by Treal calculated every frame transmitted.
  • Tmin is time to transmit data at highest rate without retries.
  • Treal is time to transmit data in real condition.
  • Good CCQ will get good throughput.
  • Requirements for get good CCQ:
    • Good Signal Strenght
    • High SNR
    • Ideal Freznel Zone
    • Free interference
Others
  • Access list is used for authenticate which station that permit to connect AP.
  • Connect list is used station to athenticate whice AP that want to connected.
  • Default forwarding:yes means client can send traffic to another clients in same APs area.
  • Default authenticate:yes means all client that not limited by access list will authenticated and connected.
  • CAPsMAN is feature in Mikrotik that allow wireless centralization. It means you can configure many AP via controller. Controller is called CAPsMAN and AP that controlled is called CAP.
Wireless Mode
  • Station Mode
    • station : most simple client mode
    • station-wds : activate WDS bridge
    • station-pseudobridge : includes MAC translation so wireless interface can join in bridge
    • station-pseudobridge-clone : use station-bridgeclone-mac address function
  • AP Mode
    • ap-bridge : standard for Access Point
    • bridge : same with ap-bridge but just receive one client
  • wds-slave : ap-bridge mode have ability to scan AP with same SSID and built WDS link to that AP. If AP disconnect, it will re-scanning and will connect again
  • Special Modes
    • alignment-only : activate align transmit mode that used to antenna pointing
    • nstreme-dual-slave : its used for dual-nstreme
